Every Child Has A Song

Every child has a song, that they were born

to sing.

Every child has a message, they were born

to bring.

Every child needs a chance to dance their

dance each day.

Every child needs a chance to say the things

they came to say.

A Tree In The Forest

There’s a tree in the forest where the children like to play.

There’s a tree in the forest that’s remembering this day.

There’s a tree in the forest where the children love to climb.

There’s a tree in the forest that’s remembering this time.

This tree when it was young was bowed down by the snow.

This tree from then has branches that are growing very low.

This tree which once was troubled, today now understands.

This tree has many branches now in reach of children’s hands.

I have many burdens which have often troubled me.

I have many burdens which enable me to see.

I have these many burdens so I will understand each day.

I have hands which now reach down to children on their way.

In Nature Hand In Hand

We found where beavers made some lakes. There we swam like water snakes.

We walked down stream while birds were calling.

We held hands to keep from falling.

Places that are wild need a parent and a child.

One Whose Story's Very Old, One Whose Story's Yet Untold

Little child, as you look into my eyes,

you are asking, “Can I trust you"?

“Will you listen to my cries"?

Precious child, I will teach you all I can,

and help you, thru your fears.

As I do, you’ll teach me, many things,

that I’ve forgotten, thru the years.

I’ll teach you names of plants and birds,

how to read and write in words.

You’ll teach me I should laugh and cry,

and ask again, each question “Why?”

Today we walk here side by side,

one, whose story’s very old,

One, whose story’s yet untold.

Somewhere There’s A Child,

Soon To Be A Woman Or A Man

Somewhere there’s a child,

who soon will be a man.

I hope that I can teach that child,

all good things I can.

Somewhere there’s a child,

soon to be a woman.

I hope I can teach that child

all good things I can.

Sometimes I long to return,

to the innocence of childhood.

Every child teaches me,

to return there, as I should.
